Anne Frank Remembered JE# 5

5 Comments:

  • Now that Henk was leaving, I have a feeling their relationship is going to gradually drift away.
  • Miep was now in charge of the business because she worked for Mr. Frank for a longer time.
  • People at this time committed many crimes and got away with it. As long as you weren't a Jew, you got away with anything.
  • They are lucky they didn't have to turn in their food to the Germans.
  • Mr. Frank considered Miep as family because they spent many years together. 
4 Questions: 
  • Didn't people ever wonder who she was working for? Why is she working for a man who disappeared? 
  • What s the NSB?
  • Could Miep do anything, knowing they committed a crime?
  • Were Miep and Mr. Frank still in contact after they got caught?

  • The Franks and the rest of the hiding friends were caught and sent to concentration camps where everyone except Miep ended up dying.

Anne Frank Remembered JE# 4

5 Comments:

  • Anne's eyesight was beginning to fade.. she needed glasses.
  • If a thief broke in and reported Jews in hiding, they were not prosecuted for their crime.
  • Anne was beginning to understand the way life was going to be in hiding.
  • Miep has a very high self-esteem.
  • The red high heels were a symbol that signified she was becoming a young lady.

4 Questions:

  • Why is it that only married couples can talk to each other by eyes?
  • Is their anyway that Anne could have gotten her eyes checked than callin a doctor, who could possible saythey were in hiding?
  • Why does Margot and Peter not talk much to Henk and Miep?
  • Why didnt they want to tell any of their friends in hiding?

Anne Frank Remembered JE# 3

5 Comments:

  • Mr. Frank set a good trap leading people with the note he left in the apartment.
  • They couldn't use the bathrooms during the day, or workers would hear from downstairs in the office.
  • Jews believed that going into hiding for their beliefs was more valuable than a pot of gold.
  • Jews were going into hiding for many different, but similar reasons.
  • They didn't have basic neccessities for all, for example same chairs.

4 Questions:

  • Were Henk and Miep now forced to take care of these children who were dropped off at her door in the middle of the night.
  • Does this means that Henk and Miep wouldn't have enough time to have a baby of their own.
  • Why does Mouschi keep getting mentioned throughout the book?
  • Was Mr. Van Daan's jokes actuallu funny.
